Pastor Jack's Sabbatical Update #10
"It is finished!" At least for now. I turned in my first draft of my major project paper to Trinity yesterday. See attached photos. Thank you so much for your prayers and being a part of the team! There were a lot of last minute corrections and editing to do before it was ready to submit. Now I wait to hear from my mentors regarding corrections, additions, and deletions which will take at least a month or more.
I am writing this from Chicago. Getting here has been interesting thus the delay in getting this out. I got sick last week, and had to cancel our trip to Steamboat Springs and delay my trip to Chicago for a day. But all's well that ends well. So I am here in Chicago with Barnabas, Lauryn, and Emma and our friends who worked with us in Grand Junction. Go Cubs go!
I studied Nehemiah 12 last week. Here they celebrate the dedication of the wall they had just built. God commanded His people to celebrate seven feasts annually if they were obedient. God loves it when we celebrate His work He has done for us. It says in v. 43, "and on that day they offered great sacrifices and rejoiced because God had given them great joy, even the women and children rejoiced so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard from afar." Nehemiah had reminded them in Nehemiah 8:10 that the joy of the Lord was their strength. Joy will characterize our lives and our worship when we remember what He has done for us. Nehemiah appointed choirs and musicians, and made sure of their provision to lead the people in worship and praise.
I didn't mention last week that we have had to the opportunity to worship in other churches the last two weeend. We visited Mountain View Baptist, College Heights Baptist, and Faith Assembly. It is a joy to meet God's people, hear God's Word, and worship with them.
Pray for safe travels home from Chicago on Friday, and for me as I am working on some five and ten year goals for the future, as God gives it to me. I cannot say how much your prayers have meant to me over the course of this sabbtical. When I seemed "stuck" or just couldn't figure out how to make the computer program work for me, your prayers and the technical assistance of Linda carried me through. I am glad to have reached this stage of my studies, and praise God from whom all blessings flow!
